London Summer

What’s on: London Summer 2017

That time of year is upon us again. Summer is fast approaching and we cannot wait. Chilling in the sun with our nearest and dearest as we spend the long days relaxing doing all the fun activities that accompany the summer months. From finding a close by beer garden to barbequing for the family, there is nothing quite like summer. If you are as excited as us but haven’t booked any extravagant holidays then don’t worry, quite a lot is happening on our very shores. London is a fantastic place to spend the summer. The parks begin to play host to picnickers, seas of shorts and t-shirts make their way around the capital and everyone has that summer buzz. If you are interested in spending summer in London then you are in luck, there is a tonne going on and you could be part of it all. Have a look at our top ways to spend your summer in London this year.

Open Garden Squares Weekend

More than 200 gardens in London will open their gates this summer to the public to take part in this annual summer event. From traditional picturesque gardens to rooftop terraces, this is a fantastic way to spend a few days relaxing in the sun. Bring along your favourite snacks and make a picnic of it. 138 of these gardens are normally publicly restricted areas so make the most of it while you can.

The ArcelorMittal Orbit Slide

You know that confusing red tower outside the Olympic Stadium that everyone spends their days trying to work out what it exactly is? Well someone has gone and decided to turn it into a slide. We quite frankly couldn’t think off a better way to make use of it. Belgian artist Carsten Holler has designed the slide that takes guests from the very top to the bottom as they spiral around the structure. It will be the world’s tallest and longest slide and something that cannot be missed.

Sundance Film Festival at Picturehouse Central

The festival of sun takes centre stage in London for a long weekend in June and is soon to attract the masses. Some of the summer blockbusters will host their premieres at the venue in the West End. A terrific way to spend your summer night, at the glitz and glamour hoping to catch a glimpse of your favourite celebrity.

Somerset House Summer Series Gigs

The past success of the annual gigs hosted at Somerset House is no secret and this year looks to be no different. Music is a massive part of the summer scene in London and this open air venue always delivers. Adele, Amy Winehouse and Sam Smith have all performed in the past and their 2017 line-up is sure to be a hit. If London is somewhere that you do plan to spend your summer, and why wouldn’t you, then do a little of your own research and find out the goings on this summer. It’s not long away so get your plans at the ready and get ready to enjoy your days in the sun.
